Last week I went to Sydney for a four day long conference for work. We learned a lot, shared a lot and connected with each other. It was great. The first day though, was my birthday, so I decided to go out after the conference was over and head to the Catmosphere Cafe to celebrate my 26th by sitting in a room surrounded by cats. Seriously, is there any other way to celebrate? It seemed like destiny that I had to go there, as recently I had gotten my 'cat in space' tattoo finished at Cooloola Tattoo by Eammon (best tattoo artist ever). Because I was (sort of) new to Sydney, I was a little late; I had miscalculated the time it would take for me to get to Peace & Harmony and then walk to Catmosphere. It was also darker than expected so I was a little worried for my personal safety - luckily nothing happened. The lady who greeted me was really nice about the fact that I was ten minutes late. She offered me a drink (complimentary with the $20 booking fee for an hour with the cats) and then got me to wash my hands before heading up the stairs to the cat room. The walls were decorated with all sorts of really adorable cat/space themed posters, which I hope I can get my hands on in the future. There were about 6 other humans in the room, but we all sort of kept to ourselves and just tried to hang with the cats. Because it had been such a hot day, the cats were mostly just lounging around and really only got active when the food came out (typical cats). I really just enjoyed being able to sit and not do anything for an hour - this is something that I need to do more of. Major Tom (the big fat ginger in the top left photo) took a liking to me and sat right next to me. He was probably just after my complimentary cat-shaped biscuit however.
I counted 17 cats, but we were told that there were 20. I had a really great time there and I hope to visit there again if ever I'm in Sydney again. For now I have my adorable $15 mug to remind me of the awesome time I had. Leave a Reply. |
