I really love books. I mean really love. I used to get grounded by having my books taken away from me, often for staying up under the covers with a torch and reading. Unfortunately, when I moved out of home and started studying at uni, I couldn't take all of my books with me and I didn't have much access to books outside of what I had to read for uni, so I stopped reading for enjoyment. In the last year though I've been lucky enough to have a job that gives me access to a wide range of books and has rekindled my love of books and reading. It's now become a pretty big part of my life again. I use Goodreads to keep all of my reading in order. It helps a lot when you're reading over 50 comics and books every year. I try to put warnings in when there's something in the book that people might want to avoid. If you know about some other things that I could put in as content warnings, please let me know and I'll add it. To the left you'll see my progress on my personal Reading challenge goal. At the bottom of this page, I've also got some links to some of the 'shelves' that I've put together that might help you find your next read. I know I'm very privileged to have the money, time and education to enjoy this many books. I try to help where I can buy buying my books through Better World Books. They donate a book for each one you purchase, have the option for carbon neutral shipping, and encourage people to buy secondhand. They are also a not-for-profit organisation that has helped to raise millions to fund literacy programs and libraries! A more local site to check out is Brotherhood Books. |

This was a very interesting book. At first I struggled to relate to some of the pressures that the people Rachel had interviewed were talking about; I had never been ...
This was fantastic! It was everything I wanted from a horror comic and I'm really glad that it exists. I can't wait for them to expand on the mythology of this world that they've created. The characters that they create are riddled wi...
This was absolutely brilliant! It was new, different, engaging and nothing like other sci-fi books I've read before (although, I have not read that many).
I devored this book quite fast and had trouble putting it down to read the ones ...

I'm beginning to amass a large collection of Cthulhu and Lovecraft related books (e.g. Black Wings of Cthulhu: Tales of Lovecraftian Horror, Shadows over Innsmouth, The Madness of Cthulhu Anthology and more).

I'm not 100% certain of what is going on but I'm enjoying reading this anyway and the art is mind blowing I love it so much. I think I need to Google a few things to understand everything well and all of the reference...

This book is not aimed at people like me. I would not normally have read this book; I'm more into sci-fi/fantasy but was given it as a book club book. This has most likely effected my rating.

While this isn't anything amazing or special, I do love the combination of various mythologies; zombies, vampires, Van Helsing, Sherlock Holmes. It's a fun uncomplicated read. Not for people who don't enjoy violence and gore however as...

When I read the back of this book, I knew that I would have to read the whole book. I loved the Dexter series and I have a thing for revenge stories. I wanted to know all about ...

I enjoyed this mix of stories. Some were a little flat, some left me wanting to know more and others were just right. The one that had the r*pe story in it was a...

After having finished Angela Y. Davis' book, Are Prisons Obselete?, I was definitely open to reading more books that wer...
This book is amazing. It contains trigger warnings, discusses oppression, racism, cissexism, ableism and more. Love it. I need to read it again later to absorb it all properly though I think.

I enjoyed this comic as it followed some lions escaped from the prison of zoo into the real world. They all had different perspectives of freedom and what it meant to them, having had different experiences growing up. They ...
I love this series so damn much, as well as the feminist essays at the back. I highly recommend buying these as they come out because this is seriously amazing.
This book was an easy consumable sort of junk food book. Not amazing, but a nice little reprieve from all the non-fiction I've been reading lately. Definitely not a very serious book, but did mention at times the wastefulness of our cu...
3.5/5 really.
Some stories were morally disgusting to me, others heartwrenching and yet others just plain old silly.
I think this is maybe due to the fact that I already perceive animals as sentient beings deserving of the right to liv...
