My animal friends.
I encourage everyone to adopt animals from shelters as there are thousands of animals needing homes all over Australia. If you're not in a position to adopt, I encourage you to donate, sponsor, help with fundraising and spread the word. Below these photos and descriptions you will find a list of no-kill animal shelters that I know of. If you know of any others that I should add, please let me know.
Willow was adopted from Furry Friends Animal Rescue QLD on April 6th 2013. She was rescued from an abandoned estate with her brother. Cuddly, affectionate and craving attention, Willow just wants to be around humans. She's about 2 and a half years old now.
I sponsor Noddy through Little Paws Kitten Rescue QLD for $5/week. He was born in late 2012 and is a deaf kitty who requires long term care by an experienced foster carer. Blackie was adopted from my partner's parents in mid-2016. She is a very nervous and scared cat but she has slowly overcome this to be much better around humans and around other cats. She still has territorial issues that we hope she will one day overcome.

Teddy was adopted from Brisbane Valley Cat Rescue on November 3rd 2013 when he was about 10 months old.
Teddy enjoys talking, licking Willow, being held, rubbing his face against human faces and meeting new people. He's a really laid back little boy during the day but at night he loves to play. His favourite toy seems to be scrunched up balls of paper. He also tries to steal Willow's cuddles. Arnie was adopted from AWLQ through Scruffy's Pet Emporium on 20th November 2012.
He was a scared, anxious cat who would attack me regularly. My partner and I tried everything we could and thought that perhaps a cat friend would help him out. He attacked Willow constantly and continued to attack me. On the advice of our vet, we ended up taking him to Brisbane Valley Cat Rescue on 3rd November 2013, where more experienced people could help him find a suitable home. You can read more about how we had to adopt him back out here. |
[watch this space - I'm currently trying to persuade my new landlord to allow me to adopt a third cat and/or two guinea pigs!]
